Today is Up With Books’ 5th anniversary! Five years ago today, sisters Ashley and Paige officially incorporated Up With Books. Inspired with the idea of providing books to those less fortunate, the co-founders of the new corporation were determined to spread their love of reading as well as promote the benefits of continuous reading from a young age.
For the past five years, volunteers have been working hard to fulfil our mission of providing books to those less fortunate. Up With Books has grown so much since we became incorporated and started handing out books. To date we have delivered over 100,000 books to children in need throughout Massachusetts, as well as Florida, Colorado, California, and Michigan. To go along with delivering books, Up With Books has also provided small toys and socks to the families they serve. These efforts have been made possible largely through the generous donations of our community.
Beyond the monetary growth, Up With Books has established great partnerships in the community and made numerous friends along the way. The gratitude and huge smiles on the faces of children receiving books is the greatest reward. From the excitement of launching new programs and watching our ideas come to life to the challenges presented by COVID-19, our experiences have shaped our corporation into what it is today. We are so thankful for all our volunteers, donors, and fellow community members who have helped make our mission a reality.
It has been a wonderful journey over the past five years and we look forward to continuing this journey with our community, as well as reaching out to new communities to share the joy of reading with many more children. Our short and long term goals will foster further growth and help us meet the needs of underprivileged children. Up With Books is prepared to continue providing books to children in low-income families and to encourage learning and education one good book at a time.
