Summer Reading

Every Friday morning this summer we will be at the St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry reading and distributing books to the children in the Fitchburg area.   Now that summer is here, we need to encourage children to keep reading.  Many children struggle with the "Summer Slide" once school is out and they no longer have access to books.  Six out of ten households do not buy a single book in a year.  Having books in their homes is a good step toward avoiding the summer slide and sparking a desire to learn to read and to continue reading.     Contact us for more information on the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry or how you can join us.  Happy Reading!
